For College Students
Tally GST Course
Empowering Rural and Underprivileged Youth Through Employable Skills
Vivekananda Cultural Centre, a unit of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, is located within the historic Vivekanandar Illam Campus, Triplicane. Inspired by the vision of Swami Vivekananda, the Centre functions as an "Academy for Human Excellence", striving to empower individuals through value-based education, skill development, and holistic personality enhancement.
Swami Vivekananda believed that true education should enable a person to stand on their own feet with confidence, character, and competence. Guided by this ideal, Vivekananda Cultural Centre has been undertaking several initiatives that help young people become self-reliant and lead meaningful lives.
One such initiative is the Tally GST Course, conducted in collaboration with CADD Centre. The programme is specially designed for final-year UG and PG students who aspire to secure employment immediately after completing their college education. Particular emphasis is given to students from rural, economically weaker, and underprivileged backgrounds, many of whom possess the talent and determination to succeed but lack access to professional training opportunities.
To ensure that financial limitations do not hinder deserving students, the programme is offered completely free of cost through the generous support of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and compassionate individuals who wish to serve society by sponsoring student training programmes or entire batches in memory of loved ones or in the name of their organizations.
Students are selected through a structured screening process that considers:
The Centre believes that learning takes place best when students are physically comfortable and mentally focused. Therefore, participants are provided with refreshments during the training sessions, helping them remain energetic, attentive, and actively engaged throughout the programme.
While technical proficiency is important, equal importance is given to the development of personal and professional qualities. Through various interactions and guidance sessions, students are encouraged to cultivate:
• Self-confidence
• Effective communication skills
• Professional discipline
• Positive work ethics
• Interview readiness
• A spirit of responsibility and service
The impact of the programme has been deeply encouraging. Over the years, a large majority of participants have successfully secured employment opportunities and experienced significant improvement in their quality of life. Many students who once faced financial uncertainty have gone on to support their families, pursue career growth, and become confident contributors to society.
More than a vocational training programme, the Tally GST Course is a platform that transforms potential into opportunity. It equips young minds with practical skills, strengthens their confidence, and opens the door to dignified employment and a brighter future.
Through such initiatives, Vivekananda Cultural Centre continues its mission of empowering youth, strengthening families, and contributing to nation-building through education, values, and skill development.
Value Education for Strong Character (Personality Development Classes)
Helping Young Minds Discover Their Strength
Vivekananda Cultural Centre, a unit of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, has always believed that education is not merely about academic success but about building strong character, confidence, and a sense of purpose in life. Inspired by the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, and Swami Vivekananda, the Centre conducts a wide range of programmes aimed at the holistic development of individuals.
Among these initiatives, the Value Education for Strong Character (Personality Development Classes) holds a special place. Designed primarily for students and young adults, the programme seeks to address the challenges faced by today's generation—stress, lack of self-confidence, peer pressure, distractions, uncertainty about the future, and the struggle to balance personal and professional aspirations.
Many students excel academically but often find it difficult to communicate effectively, handle failures, make decisions, or face interviews with confidence. This programme helps bridge that gap by providing practical guidance and a nurturing environment where participants can understand themselves better and develop the skills needed to lead successful and meaningful lives.
Through interactive sessions, group activities, discussions, inspiring stories, and real-life examples, participants learn valuable lessons on:
What makes this programme unique is the integration of modern life skills with timeless Indian values. The sessions are conducted by experienced resource persons, educators, and monks associated with the Ramakrishna Order, offering participants both practical wisdom and spiritual insight.
As a special part of the programme, participants are taken on an "Experience Vivekananda" Heritage Visit to Vivekanandar Illam, the historic landmark where Swami Vivekananda stayed for nine days during his triumphant return to Chennai in 1897. Through this guided experience, students gain a deeper understanding of Swamiji's life, message, and vision for nation-building, inspiring them to develop self-confidence, strength of character, and a spirit of service.
Each batch will consist of approximately 80–100 students, enabling effective interaction and meaningful engagement while maintaining a vibrant learning environment.
At the conclusion of the programme, every participant receives:
The programme is offered completely free of cost through the generous support of CSR funding and compassionate individuals who wish to contribute towards youth empowerment. Several philanthropists, well-wishers, and organizations sponsor batches as part of their commitment to social development, helping deserving students benefit from value-based education and personality enhancement programmes.
The programme cost covers comprehensive training sessions, study materials and value-based books, participation certificates, a photograph of Swami Vivekananda, snacks and refreshments, a guided visit to the Vivekanandar Illam Museum, honorarium for resource persons, and other programme-related expenses required for the effective conduct of the training.
Over the years, thousands of students have benefited from these initiatives. Participants frequently share how the sessions have helped them become more confident, focused, disciplined, and optimistic. Many have reported improvements in their academic performance, relationships, leadership abilities, and overall outlook towards life.
At Vivekananda Cultural Centre, we believe that every individual possesses immense potential. Sometimes all that is needed is the right guidance, encouragement, and environment to bring out the best within. The programme strives to provide exactly that—helping young people discover their strengths, overcome their limitations, and grow into responsible, confident, and compassionate citizens.
In the words of Swami Vivekananda:
"All power is within you; you can do anything and everything."
This programme is an effort to help every participant recognize that power within and channel it towards personal excellence, social responsibility, and national development.
