The Valedictory Function of the Thanjavur Painting Weekend Batch (TP44) was held on Sunday, 10 May 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in the Abhedananda Hall of the Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Chennai. Nine participants successfully completed the six-month course, during which they learnt and practised the traditional and spiritually enriching art of Thanjavur painting, known for its vibrant colours, intricate craftsmanship, gold foil work, and devotional themes.
The programme commenced with prayers invoking the blessings of the Holy Trio. The course instructor, Smt. Krishnaveni, addressed the gathering and appreciated the participants for their dedication, sincerity, and consistent effort throughout the course. She also acknowledged their commitment in balancing personal responsibilities while actively pursuing the training.
The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the calm and encouraging learning atmosphere provided at VCC. They fondly shared how the teacher’s patient guidance and systematic teaching methods helped them uncover their artistic abilities while also giving them a sense of peace, joy, and creative fulfilment.
Addressing the gathering, Swami Ishapremanandaji highlighted that art, when pursued with concentration and devotion, becomes a form of meditation that purifies and elevates the mind. He encouraged the participants to continue learning advanced techniques in this traditional art form and to nurture creativity as part of their daily lives.
The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants. A group photograph featuring the participants along with their completed artworks beautifully captured the joy and sense of accomplishment of the occasion.
As part of the valedictory programme, the participants were also taken on a visit to the Experience Vivekananda Museum, where they explored exhibits showcasing the inspiring life and message of Swami Vivekananda.
