Mridangam Pragathi – A Musical Progress Showcase

The Mridangam Pragathi programme, held at Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Chennai, on 26^th April 2026 was a vibrant and inspiring showcase of the steady progress and dedication of our mridangam students. The event brought together family and friends to witness the rhythmic journey of the students and celebrate their growth in the art of percussion.

The programme commenced with a warm introduction to Vivekananda Cultural Centre, highlighting its mission of nurturing value-based education along with cultural and artistic excellence. This set the tone for an evening rooted in tradition, discipline, and devotion to the arts.

This was followed by an insightful address by the Mridangam Master, Sri Venkatraman Sir, who spoke about the importance of consistent practice, understanding rhythm (laya), and the spiritual dimension of music. His words inspired both students and parents, offering a deeper appreciation of the learning process.

The performances began with Solkattu, where students demonstrated their command over rhythmic syllables with clarity and confidence. This was followed by Thaniyavartanam, showcasing individual rhythmic improvisations, reflecting both creativity and technical skill.

The students then accompanied songs on the mridangam, beautifully blending rhythm with melody, displaying their ability to support and enhance musical compositions. This segment highlighted their practical learning and stage readiness.

A heartfelt segment followed, where students and parents shared their experiences, expressing gratitude for the guidance received and the transformation observed through the training. Their reflections added a personal and emotional dimension to the event.

The programme also featured a special address by the Director Swamiji, who emphasized the role of music in character building, concentration, and inner growth. His words encouraged students to pursue the art not just as a skill, but as a path to self-development.

The event concluded on a joyful note with a group photo session, capturing the memorable moments, followed by the distribution of prasad, marking the successful completion of the programme.

Graphic Designing Course (18th Batch) – Valedictory Function

The Valedictory Function for the 18th batch of the Graphic Designing Course was held on Friday, 24th April 2026, at the Ramakrishnananda Hall, Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Chennai.

The programme commenced with a floral offering by the Director Swamiji, invoking divine blessings. The function was graced by the Chief Guest, Sri Rathna Kumar from Kamarajar Port Limited, along with other dignitaries. Also present was Sri Udhaya Shankar P, Image Corporate Group, Chennai, the training partner for the course.

This valedictory function marked the successful completion of the Graphic Designing Course by 22 participants from Bharathi Women’s College of Arts and Science. The course was conducted under the guidance of the instructor, Sri Aravind, Faculty at Image Infotainment Limited.

During the programme, participants shared their enriching learning experiences. They spoke about gaining practical knowledge in various aspects of graphic design, while also appreciating the unique learning environment at VCC, where each session began with universal prayers and a thought from Swami Vivekananda. The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Kamarajar Port Limited (the donor), the VCC team, and the Image faculty for providing them with this valuable opportunity to enhance their skills and become job-ready.

In his address, Sri Rathna Kumar emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment as a foundation for a stable family and a strong society. Referring to the vision of Smt. J. P. Irene Cynthia, IAS, Managing Director of Kamarajar Port Limited, who supported this initiative, he encouraged the participants to take up suitable employment and achieve self-reliance. A short video showcasing the CSR activities of Kamarajar Port Limited was also presented, highlighting their impactful contributions to society.

Sri Udhaya Shankar P reiterated the commitment of Image Corporate Group in supporting the students with placement opportunities, helping them build meaningful careers and support their families.

In his special address, the Director Swamiji emphasized the significance of women’s empowerment, the importance of character-building, and the role of individuals in contributing to both family and nation-building.

The Valedictory Function of the Offline English Course was successfully held on 12th April 2026, marking the completion of a meaningful and enriching learning journey for the participants.
‌A total of 9 registered students diligently attended the course and successfully completed it with great commitment and enthusiasm. The program stood as a testament to their consistent efforts and eagerness to improve their English communication skills.
‌As part of the valedictory session, three students delivered speeches as an assessment of their learning. Their presentations reflected not only their improved language skills but also the confidence they had gained throughout the course . It was truly inspiring to witness their transformation.
‌During the feedback session, students expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the course and especially highlighted the dedication and teaching excellence of the faculty, Shri Aravind Shriram. They shared that the structured approach, personal attention, and encouraging environment played a key role in enhancing their understanding of English.
‌Many participants mentioned that they now feel more confident in speaking and expressing themselves, and are eager to continue their learning journey by enrolling in Level 2 classes.
‌Overall, the event was a proud and joyful moment for both the students and the institution, paving the way for continued learning and development.

Tally-GST 9th Batch Valedictory

‌The valedictory session of the 9th Batch of the Tally–GST Course (TG09) was successfully conducted at Ramakrishnananda Hall, Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Chennai. The program commenced with a floral offering, followed by a prayer and a warm welcome address, setting a serene and dignified tone for the occasion.

‌Shri Fareed Ahamed, the course trainer from CADD Centre, shared his valuable experiences and insights. He appreciated the dedication and sincerity of the students and commended the consistent efforts of VCC in delivering meaningful, skill-based education that empowers youth.

‌The Chief Guest, Shri Rahul, Product Head of CADD Centre, lauded the initiatives of VCC in bridging the critical skill gap among underprivileged students. He emphasized the relevance of the Tally–GST Course in today’s job market and highlighted the importance of job fair initiatives in creating employment opportunities for young aspirants.

‌Several students then expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards their colleges, VCC, CADD Centre, and the sponsors for providing them with this valuable learning platform and support throughout the course .

‌In his special address, the Director Swamiji inspired the students to cultivate the two essential wings of life—Character and Career. He encouraged them to remain lifelong learners and continue striving for excellence in both personal and professional spheres.

‌A total of 16 students participated in the program. Certificates were distributed by the Director Swamiji, followed by a group photograph session . Kolam workshop 10th Batch

The 10th batch of the Kolam Workshop commenced on 5th April 2026 with a serene and traditional inauguration. The session began with prayers, flower offerings setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the day.
The workshop was led by Smt. Kamalavathy, a renowned Kolam artist, who in her introductory address beautifully explained the relevance of this ancient art in today’s fast-paced world. She highlighted the threefold benefits of practicing Kolam—enhancing creativity, cultivating discipline, and fostering inner peace—making it not just an art form but a meaningful daily practice.
A total of 12 participants took part with great enthusiasm. The full-day workshop, held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offered comprehensive training across a wide range of Kolam styles, including Single Stroke, Double Stroke, Line Kolams, Padi Kolams, Sikku Kolams, Freehand Kolams, Puja Room Kolams, and Big Kolams. Participants actively engaged in learning and practicing each style, gaining both skill and confidence.
In his benedictory message, Director Swamiji emphasized the importance of preserving traditions and spoke about their deep connection to one’s spiritual growth. He encouraged participants to continue practicing and passing on this sacred art to future generations.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants. They shared their heartfelt feedback, expressing gratitude to the Vivekananda Cultural Centre and the instructor for the enriching experience. Many also showed keen interest in enrolling for advanced-level workshops and participating in future cultural programs.

The 3rd batch of the One Stroke Painting course concluded successfully with its valedictory function held on 4th April 2026. The batch commenced on 20th December 2025 and continued till 28th March 2026, with sessions conducted every weekend.
The program was guided by Smt. Valli Solai S, and had a total of 6 participants who enthusiastically took part in the learning journey. During the valedictory, Smt. Valli Solai shared her heartfelt experience of conducting the sessions. She appreciated the dedication and creativity of the participants, highlighting how each student gradually developed confidence and skill in this beautiful art form. She also expressed her joy in seeing the unique styles and expressions that the students brought into their work.
The participants too shared their experiences, expressing their happiness and satisfaction in learning One Stroke Painting. They spoke about how the classes were engaging and inspiring, and how they gained not only artistic skills but also a sense of relaxation and inner joy through the sessions. Many of them conveyed their gratitude to the instructor for her patient guidance and encouragement throughout the course.
In his blessings address, the Director Swamiji beautifully highlighted that art is not merely a skill but also a form of meditation. He explained how engaging in creative practices like painting helps calm the mind, improves focus, and brings inner peace. We are delighted to share the successful completion of our 9th batch of the Yoga Instructor Course on 22nd March 2026, marking yet another milestone in our journey of spreading the science of yoga.

The batch commenced on 1st Oct 2025 and continued with dedicated training for a period of 4 months. Throughout this journey, participants were immersed in both the theoretical and practical aspects of yoga, building a strong foundation in yogic principles, teaching methodology, and holistic well-being.
