The 205th batch of the Catch Them Young (CTY) - a Value Education Programme was successfully conducted on 3rd September 2026 at Swami Ramakrishnananda Hall, Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Vivekananda House Campus, Chennai. The programme welcomed 62 second-year Bachelor of Business Administration from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women for an inspiring and transformative learning experience based on the timeless ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

The programme commenced with the students reporting at 9:15 a.m., followed by an introduction to the vision and activities of the Vivekananda Cultural Centre and Vivekananda Illam. The participants were familiarized with the Centre's mission of empowering youth through value-based education, character building, leadership development, and holistic personality enhancement inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

The first session, "The Vivekananda Way of Leadership," was delivered by Smt.Ranjana. Through inspiring incidents from the life of Swami Vivekananda, she highlighted the essential qualities of an effective leader, including self-confidence, responsibility, discipline, empathy, courage, and the spirit of selfless service. She encouraged the students to cultivate leadership from within by developing strong character, clear vision, and the determination to make a positive impact on society.

The second session, "Mind & You," was delivered by the Director Maharaj. In his inspiring address, he emphasized that every individual possesses immense inner potential waiting to be awakened. Drawing from the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, he explained how faith in oneself, purity of thought, concentration, and perseverance enable one to overcome challenges and achieve excellence in life. He motivated the students to discover their inner strength, remain focused on their goals, and lead lives guided by values, purpose, and service to humanity.

The sessions were highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from the students. Through thoughtful discussions, reflections, and practical insights, the participants gained a deeper understanding of leadership, self-awareness, and personal growth. The 11th batch of the Kolam Workshop was inaugurated on 29th August 2026 in a calm and traditional atmosphere. The programme began with prayers and flower offerings, creating a peaceful and spiritually enriching setting for the participants.


The workshop was conducted by Smt. Jayanthi Murugesh, a well-known Kolam artist. In her introductory session, she spoke about the significance of preserving and practising this traditional art in the present-day context. She explained how Kolam practice helps develop creativity, concentration, discipline, and mental calmness, making it a valuable art as well as a beneficial daily practice. Also expressed how herself conducting workshops collaborating with Geneva university and Mathematicians.

    

Seven participants attended the workshop with keen interest and enthusiasm. The full-day programme was conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants were introduced to and given hands-on practice in various forms of Kolam, including Single Stroke, Double Stroke, Sikku Kolams, Freehand Kolams, Puja Room Kolams, and Big Kolams. The practical sessions enabled the participants to understand the techniques and improve their confidence in creating different designs.


During his benedictory address, Director Swamiji highlighted the importance of safeguarding our traditional arts and cultural practices. He explained that such traditions have a close connection with spiritual and personal development and encouraged the participants to practise Kolam regularly and share this heritage with the younger generation.


The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all the participants. During the feedback session, participants expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Vivekananda Cultural Centre and the instructor for providing them with a meaningful and enriching learning experience. Several participants expressed their desire to take part in future cultural activities.


The successful conduct of the workshop was supported by the sincere efforts of the instructor, volunteers, and staff members. Lunch prasad, tea, and snacks were provided to all participants, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the programme and making the workshop a memorable experience for everyone.

Valedictory Function of Thanjavur Painting  – TP47th  Weekdays Batch 

The Valedictory Function of the Thanjavur Painting Weekdays Batch (TP47) was held on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at the Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Chennai. Seven participants successfully completed the course, during which they learnt and practised the traditional and spiritually enriching art of Thanjavur Painting, known for its vibrant colours, intricate craftsmanship, gold foil work, and devotional themes. 

The programme commenced with prayers invoking the blessings of the Holy Trio. The course instructor, Smt. Krishnaveni, addressed the gathering and appreciated the participants for their dedication, sincerity, and consistent effort throughout the course. She also acknowledged their commitment and enthusiasm in pursuing this traditional art form. 

The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the calm and encouraging learning atmosphere provided at VCC. They shared how the teacher's patient guidance and systematic teaching methods helped them discover and develop their artistic abilities, while also bringing them a sense of peace, joy, and creative fulfilment. 

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the seven participants. The occasion marked the successful completion of another enriching batch, celebrating the participants' dedication and accomplishment in preserving and practising the timeless tradition of Thanjavur Painting.

CTY 195th Batch – M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women

The Programme was successfully conducted on 30 July 2026 at Swami Ramakrishnananda Hall, Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC), Vivekananda House Campus, Chennai. The programme welcomed 55 second-year B.Sc. Data Science students from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women, who participated with great enthusiasm and keen interest throughout the session.

The programme commenced with the students reporting at 9:45 a.m., followed by a brief introduction to the vision and mission of Vivekananda Cultural Centre. The participants were introduced to the Centre's efforts in nurturing young minds through value-based education, leadership development, character building, and personality enhancement inspired by the timeless ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

The highlight of the programme was an inspiring session titled "Swami Vivekananda's Leadership Lessons for Gen Z," delivered by Smt. Ranjana. Through engaging storytelling and practical examples from the life of Swami Vivekananda, she explained how today's youth can develop authentic leadership by cultivating self-confidence, discipline, fearlessness, responsibility, and a spirit of service. She encouraged the students to rise above limitations, embrace challenges with courage, and become responsible leaders capable of creating a positive impact in society.

Following the interactive session, the students were introduced to the significance of Swami Vivekananda and the historical importance of Vivekanandar Illam. The presentation highlighted Swamiji's stay in Chennai, his inspiring message to the youth, and the pivotal role Vivekanandar Illam continues to play in preserving his legacy and spreading his vision of nation-building through character and education.

After a short tea break, the participants took part in "Experience Vivekananda," a guided tour of the Vivekanandar Illam Museum. The immersive museum visit enabled the students to explore Swami Vivekananda's extraordinary life, his travels, his message of strength and universal harmony, and his enduring influence on India and the world. The interactive exhibits and historical displays provided an enriching learning experience, allowing the students to connect deeply with his ideals and teachings.

Throughout the programme, the students actively participated by asking thoughtful questions and engaging in meaningful discussions. Their enthusiasm reflected a genuine interest in learning how Swami Vivekananda's principles can be applied in their academic journey, career aspirations, and personal growth.

The programme concluded on a memorable note, leaving the participants inspired to develop strong character, confident leadership, and a spirit of selfless service. The 195th batch of the Catch Them Young Personality Development Programme once again reaffirmed Vivekananda Cultural Centre's commitment to empowering young people with values and leadership qualities that prepare them to become responsible citizens and future nation-builders.
